Flowering Tea

My daughter Jessica gave me a beautiful tea pot and some flowering teas for Christmas.  The tea is so unique, both visually and for it's flavor, that I had to share.

This is my pretty little tea pot...
...and the tea (this is not an advertisement).
I chose to make the Green Tea with Jasmine and the package indicated it would make a Fairy Lily flower.

The process was fascinating and fun to watch.  This is the tea pod...
...it began to open as soon as I poured the water over it...

...watching it unfold was like watching a flower bloom!

I started brewing the tea in a cup because I wanted to be sure I could watch it blossom.  I then transferred it to my lovely new tea pot, which held more water, and it opened up even more.
A very pretty pot of tea!
I couldn't get a picture from the side of the pot because it's oval shaped and it distorted the view...I lifted the pot so you could see the center bloom standing...

"What about the taste?" you ask?  Delightful!  The light golden tea is delicate with a bright taste of jasmine...a lovely afternoon treat that I am enjoying in a tea cup from my Mémère Carreau's (my mom's mom) china that I inherited...perfect!

Do you like tea?  Have you ever had flowering tea?

Thanks for reading my blog, you are the best f/f/r/s/f's, see you tomorrow,
Lise

We are big tea drinkers. I make us a cup of hot tea most every night about this time (8:00 PM). My favorite is Red Rose tea.

Your tea is very pretty, almost too pretty to drink!

I like tea. Chamomile is one of my favourites. I've never even heard of flowering tea. It almost looks alive. I always keep a pot of tea heating on the woodstove this time of year. I just have to pour a cup to enjoy. If it gets cold, it goes back in the pot to reheat. Wayne doesn't drink any so it's OK to do it that way. Summer I rarely have tea, because there's no woodstove going. - Margy

How unique! I love it. I often make tea in the winter time. Do you know where I could get some of this tea?

Lise, your blog is so interesting.
I love your photography.

Patti, I've been enjoying this new tea, it really is pretty but it tastes great too.

Margy, I've been keeping the pot full on the counter, then pour it into a cast iron pot to put on the wood stove to reheat (I like seeing the pretty flower in the glass pot).

Thank you Glenda! I know you can buy this tea online, which is where I believe my daughter bought it. http://primulaproducts.com/flowering-teas.html

It's been a treat dad! Hugs back:)
