Our Little Onearm

I've told you about Onearm, our little Red Squirrel (known as a Boomer in these parts) who lost an arm somehow some time back.  She's continued coming to get sunflower seeds from our bird feeder, but we've also continued feeding her pecans.  She does appear to be getting used to my voice because she's letting me get closer and closer to her...I usually gently say "Onearm, I have some nuts for you", and repeat that a few times as I walk toward her.  She used to run away, now she'll just back up and wait until I put the nuts or seeds down...

 ...we look forward to her visits and miss her if she doesn't come for a day or two.

With winter coming, she's stuffing her cheek pouches...I do feel like she's become one of our pets!

Today I was able to film a short video of her moving towards some seeds I put down for her...you can see how she uses the remaining part of her arm...(if you receive this via email, you may need to go to liseslogcabinlife to see the video).
