Gigantic Spider Web

While walking up the mountain today, I spotted this enormous spider web...

...it was about 25 feet across and looked to be 10 - 12 feet deep.

I stood in the same spot while taking this series of photos..
...in an attempt to show you just how large the web is.
I zoomed in for the first shot and then progressively zoomed back out...
...with the sun in the same spot in the trees...the sun in the center of the photo below is where the web is...this photo has no zoom at all.

As I stood photographing the web, small tendrils of silk wafted past me...it was then I realized the web was even larger than I thought.  Made me think about the spider that made the web and how big it must be...I'd hoped I might get a picture of it, but I wasn't going to get any closer to the web to try!

Thanks for reading my blog, you are the best f/f/r/s/f's, see you tomorrow,
Lise

  5. LOL Patti, like Vicki said...watch for Shelob...

I know Margy, the next day Johny hiked up the mountain to see what he could see, which was nothing, because the threads are so miniscule...I'm glad he didn't get eaten or bitten!

LOL Vicki! There is a part of me that would love to see a Shelob of sorts:)

Indeed dad, and happily not the belly of Shelob! Hugs back!
