My Crowns & Wrens

No, unfortunately not princess crowns (this is a pretty one, bet it must be heavy!).

Today I went for the last phase of my dental treatment plan (pdate: I forgot to mention when I first posted this that I had to get the crowns replaced because there was space between each crown and the tooth...good spot for decay to develop) with Dr. Patrick McGuire, DDS in Sylva (I've been there before for cleaning and another procedure you can read more about that here).  I really like the people in this office...highly qualified, experienced, friendly, compassionate and they take their time explaining everything to be sure you understand what your options are, Dr McGuire even calls the evening of a procedure to see how you are doing...I highly recommend them.  Today's procedure was a success, and minus the typical sore gums and a little pressure on my teeth and the resulting headache, I feel great and relieved to be close to the finish line.  This is not a picture of my crown, but it looks similar...

But, you see, going to the dentist for something besides a cleaning creates a great deal of anxiety in me.  So I have to have a little help to keep from giving myself an anxiety attack...of course this means I have to be driven to and from my appointment, which I'm OK with once I get past the part about feeling like a child, LOL!

I do want to share some frustration about this situation though...these specific teeth had gotten crowns installed by a dentist in east central Florida and when they were done I presumed they were done properly.  I went back several times for one of them because it never felt right and they actually ground down some of the enamel, getting to the metal, to help it fit better (that looked real pretty, a silver blotch on the top of my tooth).  I had also asked the former dentist why I could see each of those crowns stop in the middle of my tooth and the answer was something like that's how it was supposed to be (something to that effect, I can't remember the exact words but that was the message I got).

Why do I share all this?  Well, when I got the first 2 crowns I made the mistake of not doing enough research into that dental provider.  My message to you is don't make my same mistake (like Berenstain Bears Papa Bear would say "let this be a lesson to you").  Researching medical physicians seems like a no-brainer, but I suggest you research your Dentist's skills and history as well.  Any of you who live in the east central part of Florida, I'd be happy to share who that person was...no need to say more than I have here though.  Know what urks me the most?  I have to pay to get two new crowns again...it's like paying twice for the same job!!!  And yes, I may contact that previous dentist and talk with them about it and/or file a complaint, but I don't have high expectations for positive results based on my previous efforts to ask about what might not be quite right and getting no where...

Thanks for letting me share, I feel better already!  Have you ever had an unpleasant dental experience?

And to keep my closing light and sweet, I saw mama Carolina Wren today, still busy building the nest...
...and papa singing away on the banister...look how puffed up he is!  (Click here to see more of them in yesterdays post).

Thanks for reading my blog, you are the best f/f/r/s/f's, see you tomorrow,
Lise

Wrens are one of my favorite birds...I love their curiosity and chatter. Glad the "crown" work went well...where did we go wrong when you were growing up? Hugs!

We had a wren build a nest in a wreath we had on the front door. We went in and out of the house very carefully for a while.

Ouch! I feel your pain and understand the anxiety of the dentist! Just the thoughts give me chills ~ it's so wrong when medical professionals brush off any concern! Hoping this all works out for you :) Judi

The wrens really are fascinating...I enjoy watching them as well. And daddy, my dental angst has nothing to do with my upbringing, LOL! Hugs back:)

What an awesome vantage point to watch them richies, even if a little inconvenient.

Thanks Judi, things are healing beautifully, and it's comforting to know I now have a dentist I can trust!
