Right from the earth...
Most things are growing well considering all the rain. Some of the corn have begun growing tassels...
...the squash are full of blooms and this is the first fruit I've seen...
...and then there is this...I planted squash in this spot, but it definitely doesn't look like the other squash. I can't wait until it grows more and I can figure out what it is! I love these little garden surprises!
Tonight I will roast our turnips with a little olive oil, salt and pepper...I haven't decided if I want to peel them or not, I may cook them with the skins on and see if they are soft enough to eat. I'll toss the green beans into the pan when the turnips are almost done, along with the turnip greens. A perfect fresh vegetable side dish...can't wait to taste it!
How does your garden grow?
Thanks for reading my blog, you are the best f/f/r/s/f's, see you tomorrow,

We love turnips but never plant them until fall. If you get a bunch I might have to share my turnip recipe with you.
It is so enjoyable to grab a basket and "gather" ~ I don't care if there are only a few ripe things, gotta get that basket anyway ~ My sister has has a CSA farm here in PA and grows much more than I do here on my little patch ... the rewards of home grown are numerous! Can't wait to learn what your surprise veggie turn out to be ~ Judi
Please do send your recipe Patti, no matter how many turnips we harvest, I may still want to try it...I'll just modify the recipe:)
I agree Judi, everything tastes so much better and we don't use any chemicals of any sort! And when it goes into the basket, it just seems prettier for some reason!
What fun harvesting the fruits (vegetables) of your labor! Hugs!
It is a great experience dad, so glad we are doing this. Hugs back!
