My favorite thing about this day is I spent some time catching up on my reading while sitting in front of the slow burning fire...ahh, I enjoyed every minute. I did get a chance to head outside early this morning and noticed our apple tree blossoms had opened...pretty with the rain drops...
This is what the day has looked like.
The rain has fallen all day, filling the view with a shroud of cloud! But as I looked around me, I could see all the trees just beginning to "green up" the mountain (as they say around here), and found the different hues of the newly unfolding leaves colorful in a muted sort of way. It made me think how happy the trees are, soaking in all this lovely rain. And that reminded me of one of my dad's favorite poems, so I thought I'd share it.
TREES
~Joyce Kilmer
I think that I shall never see
A poem lovely as a tree.
A tree whose hungry mouth is pressed
Against the earth's sweet flowing breast;
A tree that looks at God all day
And lifts her leafy arms to pray;
A tree that may in summer wear
A nest of robins in her hair;
Upon whose bosom snow has lain;
Who intimately lives with rain.
Poems are made by fools like me,
But only God can make a tree.
A poem lovely as a tree.
A tree whose hungry mouth is pressed
Against the earth's sweet flowing breast;
A tree that looks at God all day
And lifts her leafy arms to pray;
A tree that may in summer wear
A nest of robins in her hair;
Upon whose bosom snow has lain;
Who intimately lives with rain.
Poems are made by fools like me,
But only God can make a tree.
Thanks for reading my blog, you are the best f/f/r/s/f's, see you tomorrow,
