Daffodils
~by William Wordsworth
I wandered lonely as a cloud
That floats on high o'er vales and hills,
When all at once I saw a crowd,
A host, of golden daffodils;
Beside the lake, beneath the trees,
Fluttering and dancing in the breeze.
Continuous as the stars that shine
And twinkle on the milky way,
They stretched in never-ending line
Along the margin of a bay:
Ten thousand saw I at a glance,
Tossing their heads in sprightly dance.
The waves beside them danced; but they
Out-did the sparkling waves in glee:
A poet could not but be gay,
In such a jocund company:
I gazed--and gazed--but little thought
What wealth the show to me had brought:
For oft, when on my couch I lie
In vacant or in pensive mood,
They flash upon that inward eye
Which is the bliss of solitude;
And then my heart with pleasure fills,
And dances with the daffodils.
That floats on high o'er vales and hills,
When all at once I saw a crowd,
A host, of golden daffodils;
Beside the lake, beneath the trees,
Fluttering and dancing in the breeze.
Continuous as the stars that shine
And twinkle on the milky way,
They stretched in never-ending line
Along the margin of a bay:
Ten thousand saw I at a glance,
Tossing their heads in sprightly dance.
The waves beside them danced; but they
Out-did the sparkling waves in glee:
A poet could not but be gay,
In such a jocund company:
I gazed--and gazed--but little thought
What wealth the show to me had brought:
For oft, when on my couch I lie
In vacant or in pensive mood,
They flash upon that inward eye
Which is the bliss of solitude;
And then my heart with pleasure fills,
And dances with the daffodils.
I love this poem, the last verse in particular. I feel the same bliss filling my heart when I think about little bits of my log cabin life, like the creek, the garden, the snow, the birds, the promise of spring, the mountain view, the sunrise and sunset...so many things. I hope it brings the same memories of bliss for you!
Thanks for reading my blog, you are the best f/f/r/s/f's, see you tomorrow,

I love daffodils. You just had snow didn't your? Seems so early. I wonder how my are doing. I'll find out next week. - Margy
The last line in the poem brought back sweet memories of you..."And dances with the daffodils." Also reminds me of a song by Leane Wormak, "Just Dance" (may not be totally accurate...but one of my favirite songs). Lyrics say something about sitting it out or dancing...I'm glad you and Mountain Man decided to "dance". Hugs!
Margy, we did just have snow, but it's been so warm otherwise, I think all the plants think it's spring!
Dad, I'll have to look into that song! Hugs back!
