Today was an errand day...driving 20 miles to accomplish those tasks that can only be completed in town (it takes 15 minutes to get down the mountain before being able to start the drive into town, where everything must be accomplished - from crossing off items on the to-do list, to just having a little fun). I'd been wanting to find something to replace the butterfly (which is so spring/summer, it just had to go) on my front door, and finally found this at the local garden center. Perfect. Made me very happy; she's festive, she was inexpensive, and a good template for making something like it (with modifications for different seasons) in the future. It's the little things!
Another of my stops was at the local thrift store. Mountain Man is a mushroom lover, and when I saw this cookie jar, I thought it was a perfect little surprise gift for him. It was a real bargain; I asked "what is the best price you can give me?" and she sold it for half of the marked price. Though frankly the price didn't matter, because it was the mushrooms that made all the difference...it's the little things!
When I stopped to pick up the mail as I drove past the mailbox, I was totally surprised by a gift waiting there. Our friend Charlie kept telling us we needed a "slider" (a tray to put in the mail box that allows you to reach from the car, pull the try and retrieve the mail; this eliminates the need for the shoulder wrenching reach out of the car window to grab the mail while in the car). I was tickled to see a new slider in our box...thank you Charlie! It's the little things!
All these things seem so simple, yet they brought me great joy today! Sometimes, it's the little things that make all the difference. I hope your day is filled with some of the little things that bring a smile to your face and joy to your heart...would you like to share about a little thing in your life?
Thanks for reading my blog, you are the best f/f/r/s/f's, see you tomorrow,
Lise

Last Saturday, I had lunch with granddaughter Brittany and her two boys, Diego and Jose. We shared a lot of stories about her dad who passed away in January. For a while, I felt Marc was sitting with us at the table. It's the little things! Hugs!
