In Loving Memory of Our Friend Robert

We visited an old mountain homestead today, a one room cabin reminiscent of the days when, from sunrise to sunset, life was spent accomplishing the chores required to stay alive and well.  A rustic reminder of things strong and sturdy, withstanding the test of time (at least to a certain degree).

I found myself enchanted by the possibilities of what might have been as I stood inside the cabin...

...the old rusted out wood stove (though I found it to be somewhat modern) and rusty tools hanging on the wall made my imaginings feel more personal.

While we were there, we received a call that our dear friend Robert had passed away early this morning from complications of his cancer removal surgery.

He too, was strong and sturdy.  He too will live in our memories, withstanding the test of time.  He was a wonderful man and a great friend to many.  He had a hearty laugh, a strong handshake, and a heart of gold.  We will miss him dearly.

We send our love and strong hugs to his wife, our dear friend, and the rest of the family.  We trust you will find peace in your memories, and strength in knowing that Robert's positive energy will be with you and all of us always.

In loving memory of Robert, please take a moment to listen to this duet by Andrea Bocelli and Sarah Brightman, Con te partirĂ² (Time to say goodbye) (click on the link to listen; you may need to click on the blog title to be able to click on the link if you receive this by email). We miss you already Robert.

Thanks for reading my blog, you are the best f/f/r/s/f's, see you tomorrow,
Lise

Looking at the pictures of the mountain cabin/homestead made me reflect on the passing of time..."sunrise, sunset, how swiftly fly the years..." din't we dance to that song not long ago? My thoughts are with you and Mountain Man as you experience the loss of your friend, Robert. Big hugs!

We certainly did Dad, will have to reminisce about that dance. There is no doubt that the years pass swiftly...hugs back!

I found it kind of appropriate that we got the news at Betty's Creek - a place that to me is a very special place for many reasons... it reminds me that each day should be enjoyed to the fullest and to not get hung up on little stuff.....
