Today, while standing on the front porch very early this morning, I noticed many little speckles of pinkish red color on what seemed to be a dead bush. I went to see what I was looking at, and to my surprise there were about 15 branches, each with one of these buds at the end it. I suppose the lack of greenery is the result of the recent freeze. Regardless, the stark difference between what appeared to be nothingness and what was the beginning of something with the obvious potential for beauty was mesmerizing. I have no idea what this lovely bud is...can you help identify what this is?
